Will I be tanned after the first session? Not necessarily. The skin needs a few sessions to develop a tan. Usually, it takes 3-6 sessions to see a noticeable tan
Is indoor tanning more harmful than outdoor tanning? No, indoor tanning can be controlled more precisely. Tanning beds are designed to provide a balanced amount of UVA and UVB rays, reducing the risk of burning compared to unregulated outdoor tanning .
How often should I tan to see results? Initially, it is recommended to tan 3-4 times a week to build a base tan. Once you have a base tan, you can maintain it by tanning 1-2 times per week.
Preparation and Aftercare
What should I do before a tanning session?
Ensure your skin is clean and free from lotions, perfumes, and deodorants.
Exfoliate the day before your session.
Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment .
How should I care for my tan afterward?
Avoid showering immediately; let the tan develop.
Moisturize regularly to prolong the tan.
Avoid chlorinated water as it can fade the tan faster (Blush Beauty).
Safety and Restrictions
How often can I safely use a tanning bed? Most people can safely use a tanning bed 2-3 times per week, with a minimum of 24 hours between sessions. Individuals with certain skin types or medical conditions should avoid tanning beds .
What are the age restrictions for using tanning beds? In Ireland, you must be over 18 to use a tanning bed. If you look young, you may be asked to provide ID to confirm your age .
What are the different skin types, and how do they affect tanning? There are six basic skin types ranging from very fair (Type I) to black (Type VI). Each type reacts differently to UV exposure, with fairer skin types needing to be more cautious to avoid burns.
